Give Thanks
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (New King James Version) "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Once a year, we celebrate a holiday we call Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Thanksgiving is more closely associated in our modern culture with turkey, parades, and that all important football game.
What's Your Angle?
Proverbs 18:13 (King James Version) "He that answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame to him." The angle, or perspective, in which you choose to view a matter will always yield it’s influence in what you believe about the matter. That’s why it’s so important to get both sides to a story.
Course Corrections
Hebrews 12:9 (King James Version) "Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?" Jim Irwin was a lunar module pilot on the 4th manned Lunar Landing Mission on the moon. His mission ran from July 26,1971 to August 7, 1971. When Jim returned from his mission and was asked some probing questions about space travel, he gave some answers one would probably not expect.
A Fence Called the Heart
Psalm 26:2 (New King James Version) "Examine me, O Lord, and prove me. Try my mind and my heart." My wife and I have had dogs almost all of our married life together. I remember when we first started talking to breeders about getting a dog. One question that was almost always asked was: “Do you have a fenced-in yard?”
Independence Day
Acts 12:5-7 (King James Version) "5Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. 6And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. 7And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands." July 4th always brings back a lot of memories for me.
